FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday November 25
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

We got four players for tonight's edition of the Fed Phrase Game. Dopplershift, Occy, Celia, and Squeeky all showed up in Studio 1 tonight ready and eager to play. I went over the rules for our new players. After that we set the playing order. Celia got the first spot in the order, followed by Squeeky, Occy, and Dopplershift.

Tonight's first puzzle was a 5 word place (9, 3, 9, 7, and 4 letters), and Celia was so eager to play she was spinning and calling an R before I even revealed the puzzle. Fortunately for here, there were two R's in the puzzle. There were also 3 N's, 3 T's, 4 D's to pick up a free spin, 3 G's, 6 A's, two S's, and a P for her, and then she solved the puzzle - Magdalena and Daughters Trading Post - to take Round 1 for 3300 points.

Our second puzzle saw more of the players get in on it. It was a 5 word phrase (4, 7, 5, 3, and 8 letters) that Squeeky got to start, albeit with a Bankrupt that turned the puzzle over to Occy. Occy found some T's, S's, and an R before taking a P that wasn't in the puzzle. Dopplershift took over and found a pair of N's, I's, L's, and A's, a single B, three O's and a U, an M for a free spin, three E's, and a Y before landing on Lose a Turn with 2700 points. Doppler used his free spin to continue, and placed the G for 1000, and two C's for 800 more, filling the last blank, and read the puzzle to solve it - some concern about its legality - for 4500 points.

Tonight's third puzzle was 5 word things (4, 3, 3, 5, and 6 letters), and we were back to Celia, with a carried-over free spin, to start it. She placed an R, T's, H's, N, D, E's, and S's for another free spin before buying an I not in the puzzle. Using one of her free spins, she bought an O. That's wasn't in the puzzle, either. Using her other free spin, she bought an A. There were two of those, making the puzzle read:

t_r_ and the s_a__ __shes

Celia spun 1000 next, but there were no P's for her, ending her turn. Squeeky finally got a second chance at the wheel, only to land on Lose a Turn this time. Squeeky started suspecting feline rigging of the wheel as Occy took his turn, only to find there were no C's. Dopplershift got the puzzle and landed on some big numbers. He found 2 L's for 700 each, an M for 750 more, but then a W on another 750 spin ended his turn, and Celia got the puzzle back, with 1400 points in the round. She spun 400 and called an F. There was one. She bought the U's, leaving only one blank, and solved - turf and the small bushes - for 1550 points.

That brought us to the end of our allotted time. With that last solve, Celia pulled out tonight's overall top score with 4850 points to Dopplershift's 4500. Congratulations to Celia and Dopplershift on their final placements, and thanks also to Squeeky and Occy for playing. I look forward to you joining me December 9 at 10.00pm eastern for our next exciting edition of the Fed Phrase Game!
