FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday, June 10
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

Four players came out to play tonight's Fed Phrase Game. Jewells, Beandip, Meteu, and Gorsoomba all came to the studio. As one of the players requested a refresher on the rules, I went over them for everyone. We then set the playing order. Jewells wound up first in the order, followed by Meteu, and then Beandip. Gorsoomba showed up late in Round 1, and was added to the order after Beandip.

Our first puzzle was 5 word things (5, 5, 3, 5, and 6 letters), with Jewells starting it. She started off finding letters one by one - the S, T, N, and D, before buying the A's which doubled the number of revealed letters in the puzzle. She found two R's, bought the E's, found an H and W, and then bought the last vowel in the puzzle, an I. She spun some more and placed a K, B, three L's, and finally a C before deciding to solve - large white and black pearls - for 5350 points.

Meteu got to start tonight's second puzzle, a 3 word thing (11, 7, and 8 letters). Meteu spun 300, but there were no M's for him. Beandip took over and placed an S for 500, and four T's for 1400 more before a Bankrupt wiped out his points and turn. Gorsoomba got the puzzle and found two R's, an L, and bought the A's. A Lose a Turn space followed that, though, and Jewells took over. She uncovered a couple N's, a D, bought the five I's, followed by two P's. Jewells then bought the O's of which there were three, and then E, of which there were none, and Meteu got the puzzle back. This time he landed on 750, but he again couldn't find a letter with a C, and Beandip got the puzzle again. Beandip placed a G for 500, then solved the puzzle - traditional upright position.

Our third puzzle was 3 word things (6, 3, and 6 letters). Gorsoomba was up first for this puzzle. He started off finding an S, but then landed on Lose a Turn. Jewells racked up 2800 points with N, D, R, A, and G before buying an E missing from this puzzle. Meteu placed the last two consonants, a C and L, leaving only vowels. He used the 250 points he got from that to buy the I's, but then couldn't give the solution. The puzzle went over to Beandip who did solve it - garlic and onions - for a house minimum 250 points.

We had time for one more puzzle, so our fourth and final puzzle was 4 word things (8, 2, 5, and 8 letters). And we were again back to Gorsoomba to start it. This time Gorsoomba had a considerably better run than his other turns. He uncovered three S's for 1500, a pair of T's for 2000 more, an N for 300, F for 600, and bought the O before spinning again and calling an M not in the puzzle. Jewells took over and placed three R's, three E's, two A's, a P, three L's, and a G, leaving two letters in the first word (_l_sters). She tried buying an I, but it wasn't in the puzzle, and Meteu got a crack. He spun 350 and called C, which was in the puzzle, leaving only a vowel, and Meteu solved - clusters of large planters - for that 350 points.

That brought us to the end of our game. Our final scores saw Meteu taking third with that final puzzle, Beandip second with 750 total points, and Jewells' 5350 points for the first puzzle making her tonight's big winner, as it held up. Congratulations to Jewells on her victory, and thanks to everyone who played tonight. Join us again on the 24th in Studio 1 for our next edition of the Fed Phrase Game.
