VIDEO OF THE WEEK: CCTV CAMERA MUSIC VID

by Hazed

Here's a novel idea for how to make a music video if your band doesn't have the money to do a professional production: use CCTV footage. Band Get Out Clause took advantage of the fact that the UK is the top surveillance country of the world, and performed their song in front of a variety of security cameras - then requested the footage using the Freedom of Information Act.

They stitched the images together using editing software, added the song as the soundtrack, and had an unusual but fascinating music video. You can watch it here.

Now clearly there are easier ways to make your own music vids these days - given the ubiquity of phones with video cameras in them, it doesn't cost money any more - but these lads' novel methods have garnered them a lot of publicity, and I'm only too happy to add to it. It's just a shame the song isn't better...
