REAL LIFE NEWS: SATURN MISSION EXTENDED

by Hazed

The Cassini-Huygens mission to Saturn has been extended by two years, NASA has announced. It was supposed to end in July this year, after the spacecraft spent four years flying around the massive ringed planet and its moons.

The extension will allow some 60 extra orbits of Saturn, 26 flybys of Titan, seven of Enceladus and one each of Dione, Rhea and Helene. This should provide a lot more fascinating data, on top of the discoveries made so far, and of course we will see some more close-up pictures of Saturn's moons.
