FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday April 15
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

I got three players for tonight's game. Initially they were Davidh, Robear, and Stiddleficks, but Stiddleficks had to leave before we began, and Winks came and took her place in the rotation. I also decided to award a slithy tove to the winner of this game. Everyone seemed to know how to play already, so the players spun for position. Robear took first in the order, followed by Winks, then David.

Our first puzzle was 4 word things (6, 3, 3, and 5 letters), and Robear got to start. It didn't start off auspiciously for him with a Lose a Turn, though, and Winks took over. She found a pair of T's and pair of R's, but her turn ended when she bought an E that wasn't in the puzzle. David took over and found the S's, I's, N's, and G before spinning a Lose a Turn. Robear placed the last consonant of the puzzle, a D, and then solved - Saturn and its rings - for 350 points.

Tonight's second puzzle was a 4 word phrase (5, 3, 4, and 7 letters). Winks was up first to start this puzzle. She found an S, R's, T, L, and N, and bought the I's and E's before spinning again and picking a C missing from the puzzle. David got the puzzle and found an H, picked up a Free Spin with a Y, and a D before hitting a Bankrupt. He decided to use his free spin there to continue his turn and got back 1000 with two G's and 400 more for a W, leaving only a vowel unturned, and solved - their red eyes glowing - for 1400 points.

Our third puzzle was a 5 word thing (4, 3, 4, 2, and 4 letters), and we were back to Robear to start it. He found a pair of R's, an S, the A's, M, and O before trying an N that wasn't in the puzzle. Winks took over. She spun 200, but there was no C for her. David found an F and bought the E's, placed a D, and two L's before picking a missing W. Robear found a B before buying an I not in the puzzle. Winks got another turn, but couldn't find a T in the puzzle. David got the puzzle again and called an H, which was in the puzzle. He then decided to solve - huge red ball of Mars - for 2200 points.

We had time for one more puzzle this evening, and our finale was a 3 word food and drink (6, 6, and 7 letters). Robear was scheduled to start, but had to go, so Winks was up first instead. She started by finding 4 S's for 600 each and an R for 300 before picking a missing H. David got the puzzle and found two T's, a D, then bought the E's and A's. E's were present, A's were not, turning the puzzle back over to Winks. She found an L to bring her total to 3450, but then no N's, ending her turn. David again got the puzzle. He placed a C, K, pair of Y's, and bought the I, then solved - sloppy, sticky dessert - for 1850 more points.

That brought us to the end of our hour, and the final tallies found Robear our runner-up with 350 points, and tonight's big winner being Davidh with 5450 points. David won my slithy tove prize for tonight, and I awarded it to him. Join us again on the 29th for our next exciting edition of the Fed Phrase Game. And don't forget FEDPARDY! on the 22nd.
