REAL LIFE NEWS: BEER PRICES ON THE RISE

by Hazed

Tragic news for lovers of beer. A climate scientist from New Zealand has predicted that the price of beer is likely to rise in coming decades. He says climate change will result in a decline of the production of malting barley, a key ingredient in beer, in Australia and New Zealand.

Jim Salinger, from the New Zealand National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, said "It will mean either there will be pubs without beer or the cost of beer will go up." Oh no! As dry areas become drier and water shortages worsen, he said beer production could drop within thirty years.

Even worse, similar effects could be seen worldwide, although Salinger only spoke about the effects in his neck of the woods. This is terrible! If you weren't convinced that climate change could seriously affect your lifestyle before, you must be now.
