FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday March 18
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

Angelfowl, Davidh, and Mistert came to Studio 1 to play tonight's Fed Phrase Game. I went over the rules for our new players, and once that was done, they spun the wheel to determine their turn order. Angelfowl ended up first, followed by Davidh, and Mistert.

Angelfowl started our first puzzle, a 4 word phrase (6, 2, 5, and 4 letters). She found a T, S, and R, bought the A, and the 4 E's (which turned out to be the only multiple letter in the puzzle), then resumed spinning and called C, which was in the puzzle, and M which wasn't, turning it over to David. David promptly spun and called N, then D, H, F, O, L, and B before solving - 'Screen of Death Blue' - for 3100 points.

Mistert started off our second puzzle, 3 word things (6, 3, and 9 letters). He found 4 S's, and bought the E's before landing on a Bankrupt. Angel took over, but couldn't find any T's in the puzzle. David got the puzzle and found an N, three A's, and a D before picking an L missing from the puzzle. T got the puzzle back and found a pair of R's, but no B, and Angel got another chance. She spun 200 and called M, but there were no M's. David got the puzzle again, spun 750, and found three C's, then decided to solve - cracks and crevasses - for 3400 points.

Our next puzzle was 4 word things (6, 7, 10, and 6 letters), and we were again back to Mistert to start it. He spun 450 and called R, but in all the letters there wasn't a single R. Angelfowl took over and found four T's, followed by five S's. She bought the A and E's before spinning again and selecting an H not in the puzzle. David got hold of the puzzle and placed the N's, I's, P's, C's, M's, and O's, then solved - exotic customs inspection stamps - for 3600 points.

Tonight's fourth puzzle was a 3 word name (6, 6, and 11 letters), and once again we were back to T to start it. This time he got by far his longest turn, uncovering the R's, T, A, S, N's, K, I's, M, and G for a total of 3850 points before landing on a Bankrupt. Angelfowl took over and filled in the C and P, leaving only vowels, and solved - Nisrik Mining Corporation - for 800 points.

Our fifth and final puzzle was a 5 word phrase (6, 3, 1, 9, and 4 letters), and this time David was the one who started it. He started by finding three T's, followed by buying 3 A's. He then found the S, O, U's, N's, E's, I's, L's, P, and V before the first word stumped him and the C he called next wasn't in the puzzle. Mister T got the puzzle and picked up a Free Spin with an R, and then 450 points for the last letter, a B. He then read the puzzle aloud to solve it - blares out a plaintive tune - for 450 points.

That brought us to the end of tonight's game. With that final puzzle, Mistert got on the board for third place with 450 points. Angelfowl took second with 800 points. And tonight's big winner was Davidh, with a grand total of 10,100 points! Congratulations to all, and thank you for playing. Join us again in Studio 1 on April 1 for our next edition of the Fed Phrase Game (no fooling!). And don't forget FEDPARDY! on March 25, also in Studio 1 at 10.00pm eastern.
