Owning up to a bug in the code that causes something to go wrong is never any fun, although I try my best to show the funny side of things like the negative company balance fiasco triggered by the accidentally-too-large divvy. But what makes it far easier to bear is when you learn it has happened to somebody else.

News came out last week that World of Warcraft, which counts the players' wealth in gold, has just hit that very same limit. Once an avatar amasses the sum of 214,748 gold, 36 silver and 48 copper, they've hit the ceiling and can no longer receive money from any source in the game. Doesn't that figure look familiar?

It appears that nobody at Blizzard expected anybody to ever amass that much gold, so didn't think they'd have to worry about it. So the question is, how did somebody get that much - it surely can't have been by legal means...
