FEDPARDY!

Tuesday January 15
by Fancy-Fancy, Mogul of Toontown

Five players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's edition of Fedpardy. Angelfowl, Joe, Trilleth, Sephorin, and Smitty all came to play. I went over the rules for everyone, verified there were no outstanding questions on how to play, and then told the players tonight's categories. They were: The N Word, The Ming is a Fink!, Brass Balls, and Fed II Companies and Owners. Joe won the initial selection, and picked The N Word for 1 to start the game.

The game started with Joe, Angelfowl, Smitty, and Sephorin all missing that first one, with nobody getting it. For a couple of them, remembering the category may have helped. Joe selected the 2 pointer next, and Trilleth rang in and got that for the first positive points of the game. She continued with The N Word, and Smitty missed, but Joe got, the 3 pointer. Trilleth then got the 4 pointer, and the 5 pointer after Smitty missed it. Trilleth started The Ming is a Fink! for 1 point, and got that one. Nobody attempted the 2, and Trilleth then found the first Daily Double of the game. She decided to make it a true Daily Double, betting all 12 points, and this was her answer:

This character sold trading cards, including Ming, in an "Emperors of the Galaxy" collectible set.

She couldn't come up with the character, though, so she dropped down to zero. Smitty showed he knew who it was, though he couldn't pick up points for it. (It was Clive from Clive's Collectibles on Castillo.) Trilleth continued with the Ming category, and nobody tried the 4 pointer, nor the 5, bringing us to the break. Joe was the only one on the plus side then, with 2 points, to 0 for Trilleth, Angelfowl and Sephorin at -1 each, and Smitty in the hole with -9, giving him first selection in Double Fedpardy.

With the remaining answers on the board having their point values doubled, Smitty selected Brass Balls for 2 to start it off, and he got not only that one, but also the 4 point answer. The 6 point answer got passed, and Trilleth grabbed the 8 pointer after Smitty tried it but missed. Trilleth then started the Fed II Companies and Owners category. Everyone passed on trying the 2 pointer, but Sephorin picked up the 4 point answer after Trilleth missed it. Continuing with the category, Sephorin found the other Daily Double. With 3 points, to Trilleth's 4 and Joe's 2, she decided to wager 2 points, and this was the answer:

This player has staked a claim to be the owner of Fed's version of the 3M company.

Sephorin couldn't come up with either of the two valid answers, however, and dropped back to 1 point. Smitty again demonstrated he knew a correct question to the Daily Double. Smitty gained 8 points on the next answer, though, by beating the others to the buzzer and correctly naming Cerberus' company, only to lose 10 on the next answer. We then finished Double Fedpardy with Brass Balls for 10, which nobody rang in to try. Our scores at the end of Double Fedpardy were:

Trilleth: 4
Joe: 2
Sephorin: 1
Angelfowl: -1
Smitty: -13

Trilleth, Joe, and Sephorin advanced to Final Fedpary, with the opportunity to wager as many of their points as they desired. To help them decide, they got the category of *Objects and Mobiles *. Once all the wagers were in, and the Finalists all verified they were ready, I presented the Final Fedpardy answer:

This item is in place to cater for those who have latched onto one of the latest fads in Sol. Suction ensures users will hit it every time.

When time was up, we looked at everybody's answers. Sephorin wrote down, "What is the Evil Pirate Octapus Mel?", but that was incorrect. She wagered her only point, leaving her with none.

Joe responded with, "what are bla bla bla", which was incorrect. He wagered both of his points, and also dropped down to nothing.

That left Trilleth. Her response was, "What is a dartboard?" A good guess, but not the right one. A viewer who tuned in late in the game and cursed his luck at missing the event knew the right response - "What is a spittoon?" Trilleth bet all four of her points, and also dropped to zero, leaving all three in a tie for first!

Congratulations to our Finalists in tonight's Fedpardy, and join us again on January 29, beginning at 10.00pm eastern in Studio 1 for our next exciting edition.
