FEDPARDY

Tuesday November 20
by Fancy-Fancy, Mogul of Toontown

Three players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's Fedpardy. Racingnut, Jdcollins, and Joe came to the studio to play, and Otter tuned in on the channel to watch. I also received a slithy tove to give away as a prize to tonight's winner. As all our players were already familiar with the rules, I skipped right to the categories. Tonight they were: V for Victory; Through the Woods; Phobos Phobia; and Literature in Fed. Jdcollins then won the game's initial selection and picked V for Victory for 1 point to start off the game.

Our players got off to a quick start, with Jdcollins getting the 1 pointer, Racingnut the 2, and Jdcollins the 3 before Joe missed on the 4 and Jdcollins on the 5. Jd then selected Through the Woods for 1. Racingnut rang in on that one and got it, but all the others got passed, bringing us to the break. Racingnut had the lead with 3 at that point, to -1 for Jdcollins, and -4 for Joe.

As the one trailing at the break, Joe got the first selection of Double Fedpardy, and selected Phobos Phobia for 2. Nobody tried the 2 or 4 pointer, but Jdcollins beat Joe to the buzzer to get the 6 point answer, and out of the hole. He then started the Literature in Fed category. Everybody passed on trying the 2, 4, and 6 point answers in the category, and then Jdcollins found the first Daily Double. Leading 5-3, he risked one point, with this being the answer from Literature in Fed:

This publisher puts out titles such as Venusian Babes, Martian Maids, and Readers' Droids. Their office also sports a centerfold from Raunchy Rigellians, looking suspiciously like Bella baring all.

Jd couldn't come up with a response, though, so he lost one point (it was Dirty Boy Productions). Racingnut got the 10 point answer to finish the category after that, giving him the lead. He then found the other Daily Double in Phobos Phobia, and settled on a 1 point wager. The answer was:

The center of Phobos' Alpha dome is called this, a very apt pun for biologists.

As I revealed the answer we also saw an inadvertent clue from Jdcollins:

Jdcollins grabs stale popcorn and tosses it on stage
Racingnut says, "What is the Arboretum? ::shakes head::"
Fancy says, "Sorry, no. Jdcollins practically tossed a clue on stage for you - "What is Kernal?""
Jdcollins says, "roflmao"
Joe says, "wow, lol"
Racingnut says, "wow indeed"
Jdcollins says, "and I still didn't have a clue lol"

That left Phobos for 10, and Joe made a valiant try to get out of the hole, but missed with his guess. That made the scores at the end of Double Fedpardy:

Racingnut: 12
Jdcollins: 4
Joe: -14

Racingnut and Jdcollins advanced to Final Fedpardy, with the opportunity to bet as many of their points as they liked on the category, which tonight was Akaturi Items. After Racingnut and Jdcollins placed their wagers, I went over some final reminders, and the Finalists verified they were ready, I revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

A plaque that couriers may be given to carry from time to time celebrates the landing of the first crewed spaceship on this moon.

We started with Jdcollins, who responded "What is selena?" A good guess, but not the right one. Jd wagered zero, so he stayed at 4 points.

Racingnut also responded with "What is Selena?" For the record, Joe played along silently and came up with the correct response of "what is titan?" Racingnut's wager was 1 point, leaving him with 11, which made him this week's Fedpardy champion, and winner of the slithy tove. Racingnut is putting that slithy tove up as a prize in our next edition of FEDPARDY!, to run on December 4 starting at 10.00pm eastern. Join us then for your chance to win a slithy tove.
