REAL LIFE NEWS: THERE'S A HOLE IN THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE

by Hazed

Astronomers have made a very surprising discovery. They've found a void in space that measures nearly a billion light-years across. This hole in the universe is empty of matter - there are no stars, no galaxies, no black holes, not even any of that mysterious substance known as dark matter. There's nothing there.

This isn't the first empty spot that we've found. There's one relatively close to us, just 2 million light years away. But this new void is far, far bigger than anything spotted before. There's 1,000 times the volume of nothingness than is seen in a typical void.

These holes probably occur when the gravity from areas with bigger mass pull matter from the less dense areas

This huge empty space was discovered using data from the US National Radio Astronomy Observatory's VLA Sky Survey. VLA stands for Very Large Array, and it is a collection of 27 radio telescopes in New Mexico.
