REAL LIFE NEWS: THE MOST EXPENSIVE TOILET, EVER?

by Hazed

NASA has just signed a deal with a Russian engineering firm called RSC Energia for various bits and pieces to be installed into the International Space Station. One of the most startling items on the list is a space toilet costing $19 million!

Actually, it's a bit more than just a toilet. It includes a system for recycling urine into drinkable water, as well as disposing of non-recyclable waste (to give it its polite name). It also has leg restraints and thigh bars to keek weightless astronauts firmly in place while they are... erm... going, and electric fans to draw waste into the commode. So maybe the high cost isn't as unreasonable as it sounds.

I wonder if the $19 million price includes delivery?
