FEDPARDY

Tuesday June 19
by Fancy-Fancy, Mogul of Toontown

Three players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's game of Fedpardy. Stiddleficks, Garioso, and Isis all came in. They all knew how to play Fedpardy, so I went right to the categories, which tonight were: The Killer B's, The Magellan Society, The Tour, and Fed Eateries. The players spun the wheel in the studio for the right to pick first, and Isis gained that honor. She took the Killer B's for 1, and the game was afoot.

Isis rang in first to get that point, then did the same with the 2 point answer. She answered wrong on the 3 point answer, though, and Garioso took too long on it, before Stiddleficks gave the correct response for 3 points. Stiddleficks selected the Magellan Society for 2, and responded wrong, along with Garioso, before Isis got it right. Isis then started The Tour for 1, and got it. She then started Fed Eateries for 1, and ironically it had the same correct response as the answer immediately before it, but no one got it this time around. Isis went back to The Killer B's for 4 and picked up those points. Nobody tried the 5 to finish the category. Going back to the Magellan Society, Garioso rang in and collected a point. He then selected the 3 point answer, and Isis got that one to finish the Fedpardy round. Isis led with 10 points to 1 for Stiddleficks, and Garioso in the hole with -5.

Garioso got the first pick of Double Fedpardy as the one trailing, and he promptly collected the 4 points for his selection by ringing in and giving the correct question. He then found the first Daily Double of the game under Fed Eateries for 10. He decided to make it worth the maximum 10 he could wager, and this was the answer from Fed Eateries:

The lights are low, the drinks cool, and the jazz hot here, where the house special is ribs with a side of coleslaw and maple baked beans.

Garioso tried responding "What is The Starship Cantina?", but that was incorrect. The place described was the Muddy Waters Lounge on Sumatra. The cost him 10, and he next selected The Tour for 4. He attempted the response first, but responded incorrectly. Isis rang in next and grabbed the points for herself, along with control of the board. Isis chose The Tour for 6 and got that right, too. No one attempted the 8 point answer, but Isis and Garioso both missed on the 10 pointer. Isis got her 10 points back in the Magellan Society after Garioso lost another 10 by ringing in, but having no response. Isis then found the other Daily Double in The Magellan Society. Betting 5 points, this was her answer:

During the course of the test, you do pick this up. By the end, it's easy to see why it's being called a weapon of mass destruction.

She got it correct, but I won't spoil it for those who haven't done the puzzle yet, and added 5 more points. That left the Eateries category for 6 and 8, and she selected the 8. She also got it. Garioso tried the 6, but missed, and no one else tried it. The scores at the end of Double Fedpardy were:

Isis: 33
Stiddleficks: 1
Garioso: -49

Isis and Stiddleficks advanced to Final Fedpardy, though by that time Stiddleficks had logged out, and Garioso was done for this game. I gave the category of Objects and Mobiles for our Finalists, and Isis placed her wager. I explained how Final Fedpardy works, and verified Isis was ready. When she confirmed she was, I presented the night's Final Fedpardy answer:

With this role-playing object, you actually stand a chance of making a groat or two when using it.

After 60 seconds, we took a look at our contestants and their responses. Stiddleficks never returned, so had no response, and no wager, and stayed at 1 point.

Isis responded, "What is the ATM?", but that wasn't it, either. The object in mind was the tap shoes. Isis' wager was 3 points, leaving her with 30, and easily making her this week's Fedpardy champion.

Congratulations to Isis on winning this week's Fedpardy! Please join us on July 3, starting at 10.00pm eastern, for our next exciting edition of FEDPARDY! And if you like word games, be sure to catch the Fed Phrase Game on June 16, also in Studio 1 on the Lattice.
