GALACTIC ADMINISTRATION EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR SOL FACTORY BAN

by Hazed

This must be a first. The Galactic Administration is not known for changing its mind or for showing any consideration to those affected by its policies, but in a surprising move a spokesdroid announced that they planned to extend the deadline before factories, depots and warehouses on agri and resource planets in Sol are confiscated.

The impending ban was first announced two weeks ago and was due to be enforced roundabout now. The announcement stated that because of the ever-increasing number of star systems available to players who wish to build factories, the building of factories and depots on agricultural and resource planets in Sol would be banned, and in addition they would expropriate all factories and depots on those planets without paying any compensation. The planets in question are, of course, Earth, Rhea, Sumatra, Titan and Venus.

CEOs were annoyed at this but realized they could avoid the confiscation by simply selling their properly before the deadline. However, Traders were up in arms and saw the move as overly punitive. The Galactic Trading Guild agreed and petitioned the GA on behalf of Traders. The problem, they pointed out, was that traders were unable to sell goods on the exchanges and so those that had squirreled away large quantities of goods in warehouses, intending to use them once they became company owners, would have no opportunity to liquidate those assets before the confiscation took place. Even though warehouses were not being confiscated, when the Traders promoted, the warehouses would convert to depots and at that point they would just vanish.

Quite how the Guild managed to make the GA care about the plight of Traders, we don't know - perhaps bribes changed hands - but the GA has now announced that the great confiscation will not take place for another two weeks. That means Traders should have plenty of time to get through the rank and promote. Meanwhile, those that plan to promote to Trader in the near future should refrain from leaving stuffed warehouses on the affected planets, and should build their storage facilities elsewhere.

So, to summarise: in two weeks time, all factories and depots on Earth, Rhea, Sumatra, Titan and Venus will vanish. After that, you won't be able to build on those planets. Merchants will still be able to build warehouses but should remember to sell them before promoting to Trader.

You should be aware that this is the only the first of such restrictions. In the future, as out-of-Sol planets advance to higher economic levels, further bans on building in Sol will be implemented.
