NEW GOUGH EXCHANGE UPSETS FEDTERM

by Hazed

Although no planet owners can write events to make fun things happen on their planets yet, the custom object feature does allow POs to commision special events to be written by yours truly. One of those who took advantage of this was Dunavant, who wanted some of the airlock doors on New Gough to be operated by buttons, and I was happy to oblige.

But now it turns out that this causes a problem with FedTerm. The front-end program relies on you walking into an exchange under your own steam in order to realize that it needs to switch to the exchange display and start showing you the prices. On New Gough, the airlock doors mean that you are transported there by an event - and FedTerm isn't picking up on the fact that you are now in an exchange!

We have advised Dunvant to change his planet so that you take another step after the airlock, which would keep FedTerm happy. After all, it doesn't pay to make things harder for traders visiting your planet.

We recommend that once we issue the tools to allow Engineers to write their own events you avoid creating any that move players into the exchange in this way - let them walk there.
