Saturday October 2

The past week saw the loss of one of my favorite Cryptogram player as Gwaptiva joined the event team to host games for our afternoon players. Congratulations, Gwapiva, but we'll miss you in Cryptograms.

We met this week in the Workingmen's Club on Sumatra for a special game, in which all the entries in all the puzzles started with the letter "S". Joining us for the first time this week was Xxviolatorxx, who proved to be quite adept at the game.

The first puzzle dealt with star systems. XXviolatorxx and Zand finished this puzzle.

THE TOPIC: STAR SYSTEMS STARTING WITH "S" (DI SYSTEMS):
IKMKEHKJW
IQFFPWMK

The second puzzle involved Planets starting with "S", and Zand leapfrogged Xxviolatorxx to solve this puzzle first.

THE TOPIC: PLANETS STARTING WITH "S" (DI SYSTEMS):

Zand finished ahead of Xxviolatorxx for the third puzzle, which involved player names starting with "S".

For the fourth puzzle we looked at the commands list, and Xxviolatorxx beat out Zand for this one.

THE TOPIC: COMMANDS STARTING WITH "S" (http://www.ibgames.net/fed2/commands/index.html):

Going into the final puzzle, Xxviolatorxx and Zand were tied. After a hint, Zand solved this puzzle before Xxviolatorxx, thus ensuring the win by a single point.
