FOLLOW ME TO EXILE

A strange little bug has just shown up, in code that's been in the game for quite some time. It seems that if a PO exiles somebody who is the leader of a group, the followers get trapped in a kind of limbo. The game doesn't know whether to boot them out of the system as well, allowing them to follow the leader into exile, or to let them stay on the planet and go about their business.

Bella explained to me that the code for exiling players had been written quite a long time after the code for following leaders, and when she wrote the exile code she forget that it might have an effect on groups. She can easily fix the problem, but she won't be able to put the fixed code into the game right away because she's in the middle of writing a major chunk of new code and it can't go live half-finished.

Meanwhile, if anybody else finds themselves caught in this half-exiled predicament, it's easy enough to solve. Just move in one of the directions indicated by the room you are actually in, and that will remove you from the group. Alternatively, the leader can 'LOSE' his/her/its followers to allow them to move under their own automotive power. Failing that, when the leader boards a shuttle to go into orbit, the group will be broken anyway.
