FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday May 2
by Fancy-Fancy

Five players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's Fed Phrase Game. Kalandra, Elijah, Rubra, Alexander, and Rectobot all appeared in the studio to play, and Robius watched from afar on the channel. I went over the rules of the game for our new players, then had them spin to determine the player order, and that settled out as Elijah first, followed by Kalandra, then Rubra, and Alexander. Rectobot joined the game later, and followed Alexander in the order then. I presented the night's first puzzle, which was 4 word people (4, 6, 6, and 9 letters), and Elijah started us off.

Elijah started off well, finding several letters while buying a few vowels along the way, until a C missing from the puzzle stopped him. Kalandra took over and went the rest of the way, adding the Y, A, D, U, and H's before solving - most highly valued personnel - for 2000 points.

Our second puzzle tonight was 3 word things (4, 6, and 8 letters), and Rubra got to start it. He started by finding an S for 1000 points, but then got stopped by a T not in the puzzle. Alexander spun 750, but couldn't capitalize with an R. Elijah landed on 500, but for zero L's. Kalandra finally found another letter, with 3 N's. That's when Rectobot arrived to join in. Kalandra followed that with a pair of H's, then bought the E's and A's before choosing an F which was missing from the puzzle. Rubra got the puzzle back and landed on 1000, but couldn't capitalize with a P. Alexander got the puzzle again, and this time found a couple of G's, then bought the I's. A W on the next selection, though, ended his turn. Rectobot got its first turn of the game, and promptly missed with a D. Elijah took over again, and added the M's and C to leave only a vowel unexposed, then solved - huge mining machines - to win Round 2 for 1300 points.

Round 3's puzzle was a 7 word phrase (10, 2, 4, 4, 1, 8, and 11 letters), and Kalandra got to start it. She started off fine, finding an S, four T's, three R's, N's, G's, and L's, before buying O's and I's, of which there were also three each. Kalandra next added an H, a couple W's to pick up a free spin, bought the A's, found two D's, an M, and an F, bringing her total to 6800 points before her next spin landed on Bankrupt. Kalandra decided to use her free spin there, and got back 450 points with a B, then solved the puzzle - Struggling to deal with a wardrobe malfunction. Kalandra won Round 3 for 450 more points.

Our fourth, and as it turned out, final puzzle tonight, was a 3 word person (10, 8, and 15 letters). Rubra got to start this puzzle, and Alexander and Rectobot said good night and left the game. Rubra found, in order, S, T, L, H, R, and E for 1250 points. He quickly upped that by finding 4 N's for 750 each, and a P for another 750, making his total 5000. Rubra bought the I's, and there were 7 of them in the puzzle, filling in quite a few spaces. He found three C's, and bought the four A's in the puzzle, making it look like this:

That's where Rubra got stuck, trying a K on his next letter, which wasn't in the puzzle. Elijah got the puzzle, and wanted to buy a vowel, but didn't have any points to do so. He spun, and tried an M, but it wasn't in the puzzle for him. Kalandra found an F to start the second word, but no V after that. Rubra got the puzzle back, and spun, but couldn't find any D's. Elijah landed on 200, and tried a Z, but there was none. Kalandra tried a Y, but there weren't any of those, either. Rubra again got the puzzle, and decided to buy an O. That filled in all but two blanks, and Rubra added 350 points more with a G on a spin before solving - Technician Flanario Jaspirioligicon - for 5050 points.

That was all the puzzles we had time for tonight, so I added up the points, and the final totals were:

Rubra: 5050
Kalandra: 2450
Elijah: 1300

Congratulations to Rubra, tonight's big winner in the Fed Phrase Game. Join us again at 10.00pm eastern on May 16 for the next Phrase Game, and on May 9 for FEDPARDY!
