CRYPTOGRAMS

Saturday April 22

Some of you may not realize, but west of the link is the artificial planetoid of Magrathea. If you haven't had time to explore, please do so. And don't forget to explore the demo room which has six stock planets you can explore and eventually buy for yourself if you want one.

For the game this week, I decided to gather in the Snow Queen's hostel on the ice mini on Magrathea. (I kind of wanted to see how many knew how to get there, and surprisingly, most were able to stumble in.)

We started the game with an easy puzzle, one which Fancy, Gilar and Gradon managed to solve.

COMMODITIES YOU CAN EAT:
H Y N Y U E T
T X G H Y T
W Y U B T
Z N L G B
T F C U
E G R Y T B F H V

For the second puzzle, I delved into Fed's favorite pasttime, and tested them on Bars and Pubs in Sol. Fancy, Zand and Gradon appear to be regulars...

POPULAR BARS IN SOL:
Y N U U X / Q H L O F Z / P B N I S O
A H I L T I H
A M O S / U T O Z O P
P N A W X / Z O G O I / Z H P B B I
V O U F N A W O F Z
N F E H I / Z J H A O Y H I / E H F

I pulled up my DI COMPANIES for the third puzzle, and unthinkingly called the puzzle FACTORY OWNERS, without taking into account the fact that Financiers still own factories. Ah well, it added a bit of excitement to the puzzle anyway, and Fancy, Gwaptiva (!) and Gradon solved it.

COMPANY OWNERS:
A M I N P M Z
I D H
H Y R Q N A Z
V W U U F N
F V D O N Z
R Q N H P D B N

After the rank of adventurer, we spend a lot of our days in exchanges. To celebrate our second home, the fourth puzzle dealt with exchange terms. Fancy, Gilar and Gwaptiva finished this puzzle.

TERMS RELATED TO EXCHANGES:
P A E E G D H / Q L G V A
O L Z B A L P
V X J J X B G O M / H L X K Q P
C K M G D H / Q L G V A
A T V S Z D H A / A R A D O P
U K O K L A P / V X D O L Z V O P

For the final puzzle, I got a little sneaky and decided to delve into unusual practices of the bored. Gilar, Gradon and Fancy are obviously bored much of the time.

THINGS YOU CAN DO WHEN YOU'RE BORED:
R N H U T X / R E Q F N X I / H U C / W Q Q C / D X Z X H F X C E L
I S F / S U / H / Z E H U X F H D L / Q D Y S F / H U C / P H G X / H F / Z H I I S U T / I N S Z I
Q O O X D / F Q / Y B L / X G X D L Q U X / H / C D S U J
G S I S F / X G X D L / Y H D / S U / I Q E / R N X R J S U T / Q B F / F N X / W X U B I
D H U C Q W E L / O Q E E Q P / I Q W X Q U X / K B I F / F Q / I X X / P N X D X / F N X L ' D X / T Q S U T
I X X / N Q P / W H U L / C S O O X D X U F / P H L I / L Q B / R H U / C S X / S U / I Q E

Calculating the points, Gwaptive gets honorable mention in fourth place (yay, Gwap!), Gradon finished third, Gilar came in second, and Fancy regained the first place title. Join me each Saturday for Cryptograms, the game that exercises your brain. Perhaps next week YOU can steal the title from Fancy.
