HOW OBJECTS WORK - THE CREATION OF OBJECTS

In classic Fed, objects were laying around on the floor waiting for a player to come along and pick them up. The player who grabbed the object would use it in whatever way seemed appropriate - give it to a mobile or use it as part of a puzzle - and then the object would disappear. Or the player would hang onto it until the game figured it was time to take it away again, and it would disappear. Then after a short pause the object would recycle and appear on the floor in or around its original location.

In Fed II, you will find objects lying around in rooms, but they won't generally be things you can pick up and walk off with. No, the portable-type objects are created when you do something else. What that "something else" is varies, and will sometimes be explained in the room description, sometimes in conversation with a mobile, and so on.

Here are some of the ways that you get objects in Sol:

  • If you want a top hat from Tux Deluxe on Mars, you buy it.
  • You get catnip by picking it from the mansion's garden on Earth.
  • There is a pile of discarded bones in Orran's Ox Roast on Earth, and if you take a bone you actually end up with a wishbone.
  • You obtain can a pair of tap shoes by rummaging around underneath somebody's bed on Castillo, and opening the box you find there.

And so on.

So you can see there is a huge variety of ways for players to get hold of an object - you are only limited by your imagination.
