MAGELLAN CUP Saturday January 21 by Doggah It was time for another running of the Magellan Cup race, and this week five racers were up to the challenge: Fancy, Jessecka, Prometheus, Robius, and most recent champion Averatec. After going over the rules for new players, the race began from Magellan with the first of three clues:
The checkpoint that corresponded with this location was the Vessel Repair Bay on the planet Raven in the Kreel system. Averatec, Fancy, and Jessecka all found this checkpoint within seconds! Robius found it several minutes later. Prometheus had a bit of a hang up - in misunderstanding the rules of the game, he came upon the second checkpoint first, then came back and found this one shortly after Robius did. Upon reaching the first checkpoint, racers were given this second clue:
The second checkpoint was at the Refreshments stand on Brass in the Sol system. Once again, Averatec, Fancy, and Jessecka found this first, all within seconds of finding the first checkpoint, and in the exact same order. Prometheus then found this checkpoint, but had to go back and find the first checkpoint afterward. Robius found it much later. There was one more checkpoint to find, and so here was the third clue to be given to the racers:
This one was a lot harder, leading to The Cave on Rigel 4, in the Rigel system. Averatec found this checkpoint quickly, then returned to Magellan to cross the finish line. Jessecka also found the checkpoint shortly after. Many minutes later, Robius became the third player to find this checkpoint. Much later, with only minutes left in the race, Fancy found it too. Prometheus called off searching at this point, and the race was over. So to recap, Averatec remained the Magellan Cup champion for the second consecutive week! Jessecka took second place, with Robius in third and Fancy in fourth. Magellan Cup is a scavenger hunt/race game played every other Saturday night (alternating with Feddergories!) at 10.00pm eastern. Our next race will take place on February 4. Until then, go discover your universe! |
